Every child is gifted with the amazing ability to acquire multiple languages effortlessly. Before the age of 6, the child absorbs every aspect of the language(s) he/she is exposed to: the vocabulary, intonation, pronunciation, and accent. There is thus no better time to provide them the opportunity to learn a second language.
Language is learned not through teaching, but through living in it. Young children become bilingual through regular exposure and natural interaction in two languages. We provide an environment in which children are immersed in Chinese and English throughout the course of their day. Differing from some programs where a second language is being taught as a lesson and English remains the dominant language of instruction, our dual-language immersion approach places equal emphasis on both Chinese and English. Half of the school day is devoted to Chinese while the other half is focused on English. This balanced approach is key to achieving the native intimacy with each language.
Your child will be learning two languages by learning in two languages. Our AMI-certified native speaking guides give presentations in Chinese and English separately in all subjects, thus building a vast vocabulary and thinking foundation of the child.
Over time, and naturally, children start to think and communicate in both Chinese and English, achieving functional bilingualism. Such approach also helps cultivate curiosity and appreciation for other cultures. This dual-language immersion learning has been practiced worldwide and proven to be the most effective form of bilingual education.
Being bilingual not only provides the child a tool for navigating a multicultural, multilingual world with confidence, it has been scientifically shown to enhance problem solving skills, improve executive functioning, support perspective-taking skills, and strengthen the ability to grasp and formulate concepts. These skills contribute profoundly to building children’s self-esteem as well as their functional, intellectual and social independence.
